We shall walk, through that valley in peace We shall walk, through that valley in peace If Jesus, Himself shall be our leader We shall walk, through that valley in peace There will be no more sorrow, no more sorrow there There will be no more sorrow, no sorrow there If Jesus, Himself shall be our leader We shall walk, through that valley in peace There will be no more dyin', no more dyin' there There will be no more dyin', no dyin' there If Jesus, Himself shall be our leader We shall walk, through that valley in peace We shall walk, through that valley in peace We shall walk, through that valley in peace

A mighty fortress is our God, a sure and strong protection He sets us free from every need, that has us overtaken And though this world with devils filled, should threaten to undue us We will not fear for God has willed, His truth to triumph through us Let goods and family go, this short life also The body they may kill, God's truth lives still His kingdom is forever If we in our own strength confide, our striving would be losing Were not the right man by our side, the man of God's own choosing You ask who is this, Jesus Christ it is Lord Sabbath His name, from age to age the same His kingdom is forever A mighty fortress is our God, a sure and strong protection

Love, don’t run so far so fast Wait til the need to move on moves past And find some silence to be still And find a bit of calm before the thrill Rest, where the salt of the earth will shine Stop all this living on borrowed time And find your silence to be still And find a bit of calm before the thrill Love it all the rust the gold The mountain top the valley low Keep the pace, keep the faith All things in good time

As I went down in the river to pray, studyin' about that good old way And who should wear the robe and crown, good Lord, show me the way Oh sisters, let's go down, come on down, don't you wanna go down Oh sisters, let's go down, down to the river to pray As I went down to the river to pray, studyin' about that good old way And who should wear the robe and crown, good Lord, show me the way Oh brothers, let's go down, come on down, don't you wanna go down Oh brothers, let's go down, down to the river to pray As I went down to the river to pray, studyin' about that good old way And who should wear the robe and crown, good Lord, show me the way Oh mothers, let's go down, come on down, don't you wanna go down Oh mothers, let's go down, down to the river to pray As I went down to the river to pray, studyin' about that good old way And who should wear the robe and crown, good Lord, show me the way Oh fathers, let's go down, come on down, don't you wanna go down Oh fathers, let's go down, down to the river to pray As I went down to the river to pray, studyin' about that good old way And who should wear the starry crown, good Lord, show me the way Oh sinners, let's go down, come on down, don't you wanna go down Oh sinners, let's go down, down to the river to pray

Come o thou traveler, unknown, Whom still I hold, yet cannot see. The secret of thy love unfold, Are you the one who died for me? My company before is gone, And I am left alone with thee With thee all night I mean to stay, And wrestle 'till the break of day. And wrestling I will not let thee go, 'TIll I thy name, thy nature know With thee all night I mean to stay, And wrestle 'till the break of day. And wrestling I will not let thee go, 'TIll I thy name, thy nature know

about

This EP , Sacred Songs // Sacred Spaces, is a result of my time as a member of the Lutheran Volunteer Corps in Washington, DC. The songs contained within are all sacred to me, and were recorded in places where I have found solace and peace. If you feel moved, follow the link to my Firstgiving page www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/IanFrei/2016, and contribute to LVC so that future members might have the same opportunities I have been given.

First and foremost, I would like to thank John DeHaven for his help with recording and mixing this album. His ears were indispensable in creating the sounds you hear.

Second, I would like to thank Justin Perkins of Mystery Room Mastering for his help in putting everything into one cohesive EP. I cannot commend his professionalism and willingness to help get this project out.

I would also like to thank Nicole Newell for the both beautiful cover art and sharing her lovely voice on tracks one and two.

A final shoutout goes to Ben Johnston-Urey for allowing the use of Good Shepherd Lutheran's pipe organ in recording Down to the River. It was a joy to play.
